While this company has been around for over 10 years in England, it is still one of those best-kept secrets here in the United States.  SoundBeam is a device that converts physical movement into sound.  Using ultrasonic sensors, the SoundBeam system detects the speed, gate and distance of even the smallest movements you make with anything from a fingertip to your entire body.  These ultrasonic signals are converted by the SoundBeam controller into MIDI information that can then be processed by a sound module, keyboard, or sampler.  The controller itself does not make any sound, but it does

The Coupé Dance Studio in Nanuet, NY has recently installed two state-of-the-art sound systems in their dance studios, one that includes video playback functionality.  When the dance instructors repeatedly requested systems that could incorporate their iPods and MP3 playback devices, studio owner Diane Coupé came to SoundTree looking for a solution.  The studio, which has been in business for nearly 40 years, has gone through the gamut of sound systems over the years.  These systems have simply not withstood the constant day-to-day use by their instructors.  Their latest effort included a c
